2012 Most Anticipated Books

Here are some of Emma's & Racquel's nail-biting-please-come-out-already-hurry-up-2012 books were waiting on!

Most anticipated contemporary:
Racquel's pick: In honor, Never Eighteen & Second Chance Summer
I'm a contemporary lover to the bone so I have a gazillion and two contemporaries I'm waiting on but these are just .0000001 of them.
In Honor: I loved Jessi Kirby's debut but this one sounds even better! Road trip? Yes! Hot Brother's bff? Yes!!
Never Eighteen: my most favorite books are usually told from guy's POV and Never Eighteen sounds amazingly heartbreaking. Bring it on
Second Chance Summer:Again, I loved Morgan Matson's debut but this one looks even better. I love family-reuniting books and summer books with hot guy net door so yes. This is one the wish list big time.

Emma's pick: Try Not To Breathe, Pushing The Limit, & Pretty Crooked
Most anticipated dystopian:
Racquel's pick: Article 5, Masque of the Red Death & The Selection
Article 5: Ember's mother is arrested by the guy she loves? Seems like hate-love too me, MY FAVORITE.
Masque of the Red Death: the summary of  MotRD sounds sooo appealing. The world is in ruins and I'm clubbing? Glittery Make-up? 2 hot boys? appealing to the extremes!
The Selection:  someone told me that The Selection was The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor, ummmm hello SIGN ME UP!
Emma's pick: Prized, Fear, & Pandemonium

Most anticipated paranormal:
Racquel's pick: Incarnate, Lies Beneath, Undeadly
Incarnate: look at that beautiful cover, isn't that enough reason to make you want to read it?
Lies Beneath: Boy mermaid, or shall I say merMAN? Interesting.
Undeadly: Molly's life seems interesting: train with the guy who hates her, kill the guy she UNkilled and she's a reaper. You know, errryday stuff.
Emma's pick: Onyx, Incarnate, & Fracture

Most anticipated debut:
Racquel's pick: My Life Next Door, Something Like Normal & Breaking Beautiful
My Life Next Door: Family feud? you know I love families in books? Crushing on the guy you're supposed to hate? I love even more!
Something Like Normal: you know I love guy POV's in books & older YA characters. Travis is a hero but a little traumatized, I'm beyond interested. I love meltdowns and nightmares and tears and added romance in books (god that sounds awful). Already this book has 5 hearts from me!
Breaking Beautiful: best friend love? death mystery? story of forgiveness? I'm intrigued.
Emma's pick: Something Like Normal, The Selection, & Under The Never Sky

Most anticipated sequel:
Racquel's pick: A Million Suns, Insurgent, & Slow Twitch

I hate reading books in a series and waiting for sequels to come out -.-
A Million Suns: how will Elder rule?  How will Elder & Amy's romance bloom? how will I stand the book without Harley? Racquel needs answers.
Insurgent: I simply need more Four.
NOT PICTURED: Slow Twitch: Brenna's story will continue with the added alternating POV of Saxon & Jake? I'm already in love!

Emma's pick: The Golden Lily, Hallowed, & Fever
Most anticipated book of 2012:
Racquel's pick: About That Night

Yes when it comes down to it, there is one book coming out in 2012 that I will sell my kidney, liver and give my first newborn child for: About That Night. Yes, it's an adult book. But gosh, I absolutely fucking love all of Julie James's books. They are all pure wonderfulness! To me, James's books get better and better by each release so statistically speaking, this should be my new favorite Julie James books when it comes out and you BEST KNOW I will be reading it THE day it comes out. I already it pre-ordered it.
Emma's pick: Clockwork Princess, Pure, & Matched #3

Friday Fun: TGIF at GReads & FF |5|

First & Last: What was the first book you read in 2011 and the last you finished in 2011? How do you feel about these books? Would you recommend them to other readers?

Well, since I don't remember what bra I wore yesterday I definitely won't remember what is the first book I've read this year and since I didn't start reading seriously and keep tracking of the books I read until the summer, hell if I remember. As for last book, I currently finished Whisper Falls, a great adult contemporary-romance and I'm currently reading Lipstick Apology so that will probably be my last read of the year.

The New Year is here -- and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolutions! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?
1. Replying to comments- the reasons The Book Barbies comment host thingy is Disqus is so I can reply to comments. Which I do. Though the problems comes in with the fact that I reply late. 4 days, 5 days, 6 days, one week late. I'm going to try and work hard on replying on the same day or day after from now!

2. Variety of Posts- right now on the blog we only have reviews, memes & author interviews. Well, I want to do more then that. Maybe like character profiles and why I adore that character, discussion questions on books, my favorite books, characters, couples and why etc. The whole point of me book blogging is because I WANNA TALK BOOKS and this I think will help with that, memes can only go so far...

3- Interacting with book bloggers- why do I and every book blogger blog? because we love books. Why do I specifically blog? because I WANNA TALK BOOKS. I want to discuss, argue, agree, rave and love with other book lovers. Any one can read a book and write a review, I want more then that. I like getting into it with book bloggers, why I loved that book, why I think you should read it, etc. I don't care about the giveaways or the followers, I just want book friends to talk books with and I have some and I completely love them. Emma my co-blogger, Mary @Anxirium, Ari @Reading After Midnight, Celine @Forget Me Not, and Cinnamon @A Thousand Little Pages. Book friends are the best!

This weeks features:

Happy Friday and happy early new year! Only one day left in 2011, EEEEP!

Faves of 2011: The Covers

 Day Five: The Covers

Racquel's picks:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: I bought this book for the cover! It's so shiny & pretty I think it's a big eye catcher.
Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez: again, another shiny one. I love the girl and her hair & the title with the pink O. P-REEEEE-TY!
Across the Universe by Beth Revis: I wasn't a fan of this cover until.... OH WOW THERE IS A GIRL & BOY WITH A UPSIDE DOWN KISS! once I noticed that, it was love<3

Wither by Lauren DeStafano: Wither is one of the prettiest covers EVER. The lines and shapes around the models head & bird cage are so fantastic and while I usually DISLIKE girl-in-dress-on-cover covers, Wither makes it works.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: this one is simple and nice. The best kind of cover! I think it relates to the book (or to the summary since I have yet to read the book xD) and I love all the different published versions, they're great.
Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel: This is another one that's soooo eye catchy! It's dystopian book BUT society has advanced but there etiquette has gone back to Victorian times. It's so original and the cover portrays that. LOVE!
Pure Red by Danielle Joesph: another cute and simple one. I like the guy's blonde curls.
Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have) by Sarah Mlynoswski: again, I bought this book for the cover. Something about it screams BUY ME! The ridiculously amazing title? the sweet moment on the cover? I'm a romance whore after all...
Roadside Assistance by Amy Clipston: I don't know what it is about this cover but I adore it. The car in the background, the girl in the ground and the title all tie up.

Emma's picks:
Silence - Becca Fitzpatrick
Looking at the cover just makes me want to swoon! I have to admit, I have a thing for angels. You'll often find me in class drawing (attempting) wings, haha.
Crossed - Ally Condie
It's blue. It's also a girl breaking out of her delicate cage of glass. It's beautiful.
The Pledge - Kimberley Derting
There's something very mysterious about the cover for this book. Is she hiding behind that black hood? Is she spying?

Ballad - Maggie Stiefvater
I love covers with a simple black background with a contrasting colour. There's something so striking about the autumn leaf in flames.
Beautiful Disaster - Jamie McGuire
They say don't judge a book by it's cover. But, honestly, does this not look amazing? Let me tell you, the book was not. With such a lovely cover, I expected a lot of this book, only to be severely disappointed.
Unearthly - Cynthia Hand
The dress just looks gorgeous! I know some people don't like the lower/upper case lettering, but I believe it looks nice, to say the least.

 Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare
It's so dark and full of mystery, it's like the story is spilling out in pieces through the images. I wanted to devour it up as soon as I saw it.
Forever - Maggie Stiefvater
This is not the commonly seen cover, but I prefer it to the white background and red branches. Honestly, all three books have lovely colours, I just personally like the red rose against the black.
Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi

I think it's pretty dramatic, which is perfect for the book. The slash through the words, the elaborate dress. To me it looks like glass shattering behind her, it might be water though... who knows? It looks amazing!

What are your favorite covers?
