Top Ten Tuesday: BEA Edition

Top 5 books we want from BEA!
01. I'll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson-- DUH! If you haven't read The Sky is Everywhere, this is you chance to hop on the Jandy's-writing-is-phenomenal bandwagon.

02. Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers-- This is the final book in the His Fair Assassin EPIC series. If there is one YA book I want this year, it's Mortal Heart.

03. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray-- THAT COVER!! And it has an awesome summary to match the beautiful cover. Space?! Parallel Universe?! We're so there.

04. Stitching Snow by R.C. Lewis-- Who doesn't love a fairy tale retelling? But a sci-fi fairytale retelling?! Space?! Racquel is currently obsessed with all the space books.

05. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas-- This one is all Sharon, but she wants it enough to count for about thirty people. CALAENA. AND CHAOL. That's all.

Now that we're done dreaming, time for Part 2 of our special BEA edition of Top Ten Tuesday:

If you're anything like us here at The Book Barbies, this is your first reaction:

BUT although that ice cream can get mighty tempting, and no, Patrick Swayze's biceps and one-liners really never get old, we are proposing alternative methods of dealing with your feelings of BEA-deprivation.

ARE YOU FEELING...

SAD

Happy music! Preferably Disney, show tunes, or any songs conducive to all-out belting. Emma Stone rocked it, and so can you!

FRUSTRATED

Sunshine, water, and books! What could be more relaxing? Those poor, unfortunate BEA attendees are probably shivering away in overly air-conditioned rooms while you're getting some fresh air and working on your tan.

RESTLESS

Crazy-around-the-house-dancing! Even the Prime Minister knows the importance of a good impromptu dance party! (Bonus points if you disrobe a la Tom Cruise. )

PRODUCTIVE

Go into a review writing frenzy! Even if you can't be acquiring all sorts of goodies to fuel your blog for the next who-knows-how-long, you can catch up on that intimidating backlog that's been staring you down for the past few weeks.

ENVIOUS

Re-read Harry Potter! You might still be seething on the inside, but you'll have no time to think about it if your goal is to cram in all 3,000+ pages of Potter goodness before June arrives.

RAGE-Y

Go walk around Barnes & Noble on a Friday night and wait for someone to disdainfully proclaim that he/she thinks reading Harry Potter/Divergent/Hunger Games would be a waste of time because he/she's seen the movie(s). Do what comes naturally.

LOGICAL

If you can't be at BEA, Armchair BEA is your next best bet! It's actually pretty awesome.

INDIFFERENT

Get yourself a psych exam, stat. Alternatively, pat yourself on the back for having more well-adjusted priorities than we do. Your call.

Note: We know lists similar to this have been done in the past. Any similarities are strictly coincidental.
Are YOU going to BEA? In all seriousness, we really are happy for you (if a tad bit of some of the emotions above as well). Have fun! Are you like us and stuck far, far away from the NY Explosion of Bookish Goodness? Try some of the remedies above! And do share some of your own, as well!

The Other Book Barbie

I bet ya didn't know that there are three book barbies. Racquel. Sharon. And Donna. Donna runs all the behind scene stuffs. She makes the pretty graphics and perfects the blog's layout. She also procrastinates a lot of reviews.

So this is Donna. She spends a lot of time in her bookshelf.

As you can see, Donna was blessed with amazing hair, fab eyes and mile long legs. But she loves reading like all of us.

Exhibit A
Donna has a never ending TBR and despite that, she still loves buying more books.
Exhibit B
Donna loves contemporary YA and is up for any contemporary YA recs.

Like Sharon and Racquel, Donna loves her YA but also LOVES historical romance.

Lisa Kleypas is her favorite author. DUH.

She read this series a million times.

She often fights Sharon and Racquel for Hardy. Racquel usually wins ;D

She spends a lot of time debating who she loves more. Dimitri?
Or Adrian?

Yeah she has a thing for vampires. Even this one.

Sarah Dessen is one of her favorite authors. She equally loves Wes and Owen

 She collects book boyfriends too.
The Travis men.
Hardy Cates.
Owen Armstrong.
John After.
Mr. Darcy.
Adrian Ivashkov. Dimitri Belikov.
Wes Baker.
Alex Fuentes.
Will Herondale. Jem Carstairs.
Grayson Hall.

And like anyone, she loves shiny book covers.

So yeah. That's a little tidbit on the third book barbie. And since I know you were wondering, Donna is named after the fabulous BAMF Donna from the TV show Suits.

I hope you liked this silly fun post and that my terrible photography skills didn't kill you. If you didn't figure it out, as always, anything pink is supposed to be Sharon. Anything purple is Racquel
