Friday Fun: Gread & TGIF & FF |13|

Book Blogger Influences: Has there been a particular book blogger who's influenced what you read? Share with us a review/book blog that convinced you to pick up a certain book.
Reading After MidnightAll book blogger influence me in the way that they raise awareness through meme/reviews of books I never heard of. Besides that though, the book blogger I take their opinion and recommendation to heart is Ari from Reading After Midnight since we have very similar tastes, what she likes, I like. What she dislike, I dislike. The other person would be my co-blogger, Emma. We don't have 100% exact taste like Ari and I do but she's basically the only teen I know who reads adult contemporaries like me and doesn't have a problem at all with reading indie books. So we often share recommendations.

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?
Dimitri from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ♥‿♥ and Jace from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
They are both really strong and it would be an epic, entertaining battle of hand combat. Definitely a man fight. Though I do believe Dimitri will win because he's no where as impulsive and cocky as Jace. He will underestimate him therefor kick his niiiice booty.

Friday Fun: TGIF at Greads |12|

Musical Stories: If you could read a book about any song, which song would you love to see written down in story form?
Racquel's picks:
How to Save a Life by The Fray & Far More by The Honorary Title are in my opinion, two of the greatest songs I have ever listened to! Their lyrics are so profound and moving, they brought tears to my eyes a few times. If they were both a story, it would be an extremely heart breaking story but a moving one.

How to Save a Life by The Fray (lyrics link)
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Far More by The Honorary Title (lyrics link)
I love you and I miss you
What else is there to say?
Wish You Were Here (With Me) by Enrique Iglesias (lyrics link)
Funny how the years,
They just pass us by
Seems like yesterday,
You were in my life

Emma's picks:
And as for more sad stories, Gone Away by Safetysuit, The Burn by Framing Hanley, and The Balcony Scene by Pierce The Veil. Racquel once (yesterday) told me that all songs can make stories, and they practically are stories themselves. I've listened to Gone Away so many times, in a way, it already has it's own story, it just needs to be written. Times like these, I wish I could be bothered to write...

Gone Away by Safetysuit (lyrics link)
I think I'll be gone away awhile,
Tell me all the things that I,
I'll be missing here in this old life man,
Cause I just don't know.

The Burn by Framing Hanley (lyrics link)
How can I give you life?
There's nowhere left to go when it's over.
I took the bullet, I took the heat, I took the fall.
I guess I was foolish to believe after all.

The Balcony Scene by Pierce The Veil (lyrics link)
Have you ever really danced on the edge?
Is something still scaring you?
Have you ever really danced on the edge?
The count of three is up
.
Best Friday wishes from Houston & Melbourne!

Friday Fun: TGIF at Greads |11|

Friday, March 23rd - Bookish Trends: What are some bookish trends you are noticing in the literature world today? Is there a particular trend you'd like to see more of?
It seems to me, if you want someone to buy your book, you need to have some sort of supernatural, paranormal creature in your books. Werewolves, vampires, telepaths, fairy's, angels, demons, Greek mythology gods etc. etc. etc. and if you want a double WHAM you might as well sit this paranormal infested world in a dystopian society. Paranormal is VERY VERY IN right now and dystopain is also making a firm stand as the big giant genres in books. That's not a bad thing, there is a reason why those two genres are so big it's because people LOVE them but personally, I'm one of the few who prefers contemporary books over anything so lucky y'all and poor me.

As for trends I'm liking, I wouldn't say this is a trend per se but it's something that is on the rise, even if it's subtly so and that is the new adult genre! Which if you don't know what that is, new adult is books about characters outside of highschools who are still teens so 17 to 19 year olds. As a highschool student nearing graduation (hopefully this year in December!) and being the youngest student of my graduating class annnd being raised with older people, I'm NEVER really my age. All of YA is no longer my thing, some books are just too young and not mature enough for my liking and it has gotten to a point where I'm reading adult contemporary books. That's sad. BUUUT new adult is my current obsession! Since most of the new adult books are contemporary, it's always a win-win for me.
Some of my favorite new adult contemporaries:
Love Story by Jennifer Echols
Relatively Honest by Molly Ringle
What Scotland Taught Me by Molly Ringle
Have a nice weekend!

Friday Fun: Molly Ringle Loving TGIF Edition & FF |10|

Promote An Author: Is there a particular author you wish got more recognition? Pick one author & tell us why we should read their work.
MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!  MOLLY RINGLE!
I only read two books by Molly Ringle, What Scotland Taught Me and Relatively Honest and I LOOOOOOVED both of them. They're both exceed 5 stars♥♥♥♥♥ It's like Molly Ringle came into my mind, saw my vision for the perfect books and she wrote them. For real.

Both What Scotland Taught Me and Relatively Honest are "new adult" books meaning they feature older teens, 17+ years old and out of high school. I absolutely LOVE this! I'm a teen myself (not yet a "new adult" though) and I'm about to graduate from highschool *hopefully* later this year in December. Now your wondering, people don't graduate in December! Well that's because I'm graduating *hopefully* one semester early. Why? I'm ready to move on! I hate being surrounded by the pitiful drama of the majority of 3000+ kids that go to my high school! How does this tie in with the why I love Molly Ringle writing? It's because her books and characters feature older teens, starting college and going on their own, they hold a level of maturity that just cannot be portrayed in most YA books. I always grew up and was raised around people older than me and on top of that, I'm the youngest person in my graduating class AND I'm graduating one semester earlier than them anyways so that just tells you how much more mature I am for my own age so I never really fully enjoyed YA books directed for a younger audience even when I was 13 and now, only 3 years later, I'm reading ADULT contemporary which further coveys how much I'm growing out of YA. But with "new adult" books making a stand, I'm satisfied :D

Not only that though, Molly Ringle's writing is the MOST REALISTIC I have EVER EVER EVER read. Seriously! Her characters (main, supporting and side character and just everyone) are so so believable. They screw up, make mistakes and try to fix them. At time they are annoying and sometime their decisions will piss readers off BUT isn't that true for EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING on this earth?
I highly doubt someone met a single person they never got annoyed with. Despite all that though readers will STILL LOVE Molly Ringle characters because again, they're so really they might as well exist. Her characters are not perfect and they're not perfectly imperfectly either! They really try to do their best and mostly have the best at heart. They are real and there is nothing in the world that I love more than that. Her characters will make you truly LAUGH OUT LOUD, they might annoy you but they will also make you feel for them and in the end, your going to wish that your friend with Molly Ringle characters.

I can go on all day about how awesome, funny, real and fan-fucking-tastic Molly Ringle writing is but that will still not convey how much I loved What Scotland Taught Me & Relatively Honest. I pledge that I will read any book that she ever writes! If you're looking for a mature, realistic read than Molly Ringle's What Scotland Taught Me and Relatively Honest are books for you. If not, then just go to B&N and pick a random book from YA shelf. I guarantee you it will have the unrealistic ignorant bubble you might or might not love because god knows there are plenty of those books. (how did I go so bitter?!)

Q: Have you ever looked at book’s cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.
Even though I knew the book was going to be awesome, I still detest the cover of Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles. Now I absolutely looooove Simone Elkeles, her book Perfect Chemistry is my all time favorite book EVER but her covers are not the best/: I like how they're hot but Rules of Attraction looks like it's such cheap quality!
